FAQ about Associate Android Developer ( Certification )

Hello to every one. Hope every body is doing good.
Lot of people are asking me about Google Android Certification on LinkedIn. Its really difficult to give answer to ever one. So I discuss with one of my friend and he gave me a very good suggestion. I should write one post on this and I will mention all the questions and answer in that post. If some body ask me something new I should update my post. So I decided I will write but credit goes to my friend Tanveer :).

Questions asked by people:

Q: What is the level (Senior, Junior, etc …) of certification?
A: That is a entry level certification. In my words first step to Android Development.

Q: How the exam will be like that?
A: 
Exam is very simple. They will send you one project with new features and bugs. So only you need to fix these bugs and add new features.

Q: How much time I have to complete that assignment?
A: They will give you 48 hours but in my opinion if you know essentials of Android you can complete max in 3-4 hours.

Q: How to get registered for the certification?
A: https://developers.google.com/training/certification/

Q: Do we get study materials in this exam to prepare?
A: 
If you are following Android guidelines. You will pass easily this exam. There is no study materials given by Google except some general concepts which are given below.

  • Testing and Debugging
  • Application User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX)
  • Fundamental Application Components
  • Persistent Data Storage
  • Enhanced System Integration

Q: Is there any interview?
A: 
After submission of exam. They will review the assignment. If review passed they will schedule a exit interview for 30 mins. That is a video call.

Q: What they ask in exit interview?
A: 
They will ask around 5 questions. Which are related to Android and the submitted assignment. If assignment is done by your self you will pass this exit interview in 10mins.

Q: This whole certification process, how much it take time?
A: Minimum 1 month but in my case it took around 2 months.

Q: What is the cost of this certification?
A: The Associate Android Developer Certification exam is $149 USD. Local pricing may vary based on your country of origin.

Q: After successful certification how I will get my certification?
A: They will send a online badge with link. Which you can use anywhere on CV, Linked any where. For example you can check mine one. Associate Android Certification Badge

Q: Any benefit of this Certification?
A: In my opinion, short term there is no benefit but in long term there should be lot of benefits.

  7. Hi ,thanks for sharing such a important question are. What will happen if I am unable to clear this exam in my first attempt, I have to pay money for taking it again ?

      If a candidate does not pass the Certification exam, they may retake it in the following manner:

      If a candidate does not pass their first attempt, they may immediately retake the exam.

      If a candidate does not pass their second attempt, they will be eligible for their third attempt after a two month period.

      If after three attempts, the candidate has still not passed the exam, they must wait six months. After six months, if the candidate still wishes to take the exam, they must pay for the exam to take it again.

    As I have read in the description of the certificate, I need to be living in one of the countries supported by Google.
    Currently I’m living in one of the few not supported, but I have visit access to one that is supported.
    I am wondering if this will make it possible for me to get the certificate and do the test, please explain the starting process.

    Anyone tell me how much lengthy exam is because I have 3 years of experience in android development or if anyone clear tells me what is sample project google deliver to you to complete tell me as sample project because you said that They will send you one project with new features and bugs. So only you need to fix these bugs and add new features.
